33.

So this is what life looks like at the age of thirty-three.  Pretty darn good from my perspective, I'm a-thinkin'.

My hubby outdid himself this year.  No, I really mean it.  He took all seven of us me shopping to Tar-jay the night before my birthday (hey, we have five kids and it was weeknight.).  You should have seen me trying to model outfits for him while he's trying to chase around three out of the five kiddos.  Maggie tried to help him and the baby was thankfully strapped into the cart.

Since my actual birthday fell during the middle of the week, we planned a special birthday date for Saturday.

We started out at a local bistro-esque brunch spot that my hubby gets to visit frequently with his vendors, while I'm making pb&j or cheese crisps.  Again.

So, I was very excited to get to go to a grown-up place for our brunch.  I didn't even need to bring the diaper bag!

Yup, that's me modeling my new outfit a la Tarjay.  (A little shorter than I usually go, but Hubby was "ooh, la, la"-ing, so I think it was an okay choice.

Unfortunately (hee, hee), we still had some time to kill so we went to a bookstore and perused magazines.  It was pure torture.  You might think so, if you didn't know me very well.  Looking at that picture, can you guess which magazines were mine and which were Hubby's?

Then we were off on the next part of the date:  We went to see "In The Mood: A 1940's Music Revue."

{sigh} Happy Birthday to me.

We had such a blast, even though we were the youngest people in the whole audience.  You looked out and it looked like a sea of Q-tips.  The cutest ladies were sitting next to me.  They were obviously from Nu Yowk... and hard of hearing.  I was shamelessly eavesdropping and totally laughing at one lady calling someone on her cell phone and leaving a message.  She kept saying to the voice mail, "Are you getting this message?!" really loudly.  It was really funny.

We scurried out there as quickly as we could because a) we certainly didn't want to get stuck in the wave of older people pouring out of the theatre and then going 5 mph and b) people were coming over to our house for dinner and I was certain I had forgotten to do something!

We set up a table outside in our backyard, covered it with Paco's Grandma's quilts, our long trough that my handy hubby made and flowers.

It was so lovely to sit out under the stars with our besties, eating and laughing until tears were pouring out of my eyes.

It was the perfect dinner party.

Yes, it was the best birthday ever, especially considering I got to come home to these monkeys!

Thirty-three is shaping up to be pretty awesome.
