Five Minute Friday: Identity

This is the first time I've linked up with The Gypsy Mama for her Five Minute Friday and I'm a little nervous.  The perfectionist in me is wanting me to cheat and use the backspace button.  We're good friends, my backspace button and I.  But I'm going to try anyway.  Don't cry too much backspace button.  I'll be back.  We're in a terribly, unhealthy dependent/co-dependent relationship.  We both know it's true.

Identity:

What I am not - tall, leggy, blonde, ballerina-esque.  Never have been, never will be.  I'm okay with that.

Who I am not - shy, reserved, private.

What I am - short, chubby possessing curves.  Always have been, always will be.  I'm okay with that, too.

Who I am - bubbly, outspoken, enthusiastic laugher.

Who I belong to - Jesus, my husband, my children, my family - both genetic and spiritual.

What I am - daughter, wifey, mama, Seeker of Him, wannabe gypsy

What I want to be - world traveler, encourager, amazing hostess, a good listener, an even better friend, servant of the Most High, a much, much better writer, and an even better mama.

I am a Martha desiring to become more like Mary, a woman in search of who she is in Christ, a wonderer of what I can do with the gifts He's given me.

I am Jamie.

  5. Sometimes it's hard not to focus on the "what I am not's" instead of loving the "what I am's". Glad you are okay with both!

    1. It's true, Christy. It helped me to think out who I am by first thinking of who I am not. Backwards, yes, but ever so helpful.
