Stretching.  I do love a good stretch.

Stretching in the morning or those last few minutes of consciousness as I sink blissfully into my bed at night.  There's nothing like a good stretch.  As long as it's contained in my comfort zone.

Ouch.

Really?  Have I gotten that rigid and un-flexible?

Here's the thing about stretching outside of your comfort zone:  it's painful and uncomfortable.

It's also exciting and liberating.  Once you stretch that comfort zone as much as possible, at least this time around, you never shrink back all the way to where you once were.

And that's a good thing.

Think about it like this.  My body has housed five precious children.  Five.  Think about what that does to a woman's body.  My body has been stretched and pulled and pulled and stretched almost beyond recognition.  At least my twenty-one year old self wouldn't recognize it.

(At one point that top was a dress.
True story.)

But look what I got out of it!  Five belly-stretching babies.

Wow.  Doesn't that excite you?  Does it make you want to go out and have five babies?  Maybe not.

However, I definitely stretched beyond the comfort zone and can't go back to where I was originally.

And really, would I want to?

I think not.

  3. :) Stretching is always painful at the time. But the results are usually well worth it. In the case of stretch marks - WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY worth it.
